The Role

The Program Manager will lead cross-functional teams to deliver critical project milestones, ensuring timely execution of key drug development programs. This individual must bring a deep, hands-on understanding of drug product development needs and demonstrated leadership guiding programs through IND-enabling activities.

This individual will serve as a central hub of coordination among R&D functions – including clinical, nonclinical, and technical teams – with the expertise to anticipate development needs, connect nonclinical and clinical requirements, and ensure programs advance on time, within scope, and aligned with corporate strategy.

The role also involves providing regular project updates to senior leadership and contributing to the continual improvement of project management processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead integrated program planning and execution across multiple drug development programs, from early research through IND-enabling activities and clinical development, driving teams to successful IND filings
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, timeline, risk registers, and milestone tracking tools
• Facilitate cross-functionally team meetings, drive alignment on priorities, and ensure clear communications to program status to leadership
• Coordinate closely with CMC, non-clinical, clinical and research team to identify interdependencies, resolve bottlenecks and manage risks proactively
• Partner with Finance and Operations to support resource planning, budgeting, and scenario analysis
• Prepare and present program updates and decision packages for senior leadership and governance committees
• Drive continuous improvement of program management processes, tools, and best practices across the organization
• Apply deep understanding of drug product development needs to anticipate technical requirements, sequence critical-path activities, and align cross-functional development workstreams with program objectives
• Lead planning and execution of IND-enabling nonclinical and clinical activities, integrating toxicology, pharmacology, regulatory, and early clinical requirements into a cohesive development plan

Qualifications

• 7+ years of program or project management experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
• Deep understanding of drug product development needs across the development lifecycle, including technical development and analytical strategy
• Proven track record leading cross-functional teams through IND-enabling activities and successful IND submission, with deep experience across both nonclinical and clinical development
• Deep, demonstrated experience coordinating across multidisciplinary R&D functions, with hands-on depth in both nonclinical and clinical development and strong working knowledge of technical development
• Strong proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Agile, Waterfall)
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced degree (MS. PhD, Pharm D, MBA or equivalent) in a life sciences or business-related field or PMP or equivalent project management certification strongly preferred
