Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Event Sales Manager to join a prestigious luxury hotel and fine dining hospitality destination in New York City. This highly visible role is responsible for managing the complete event lifecycle—from securing bookings and developing client relationships to planning, coordinating, and executing exceptional private events.
The ideal candidate is an organized, hospitality-driven professional with a strong sales background, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing luxury events. This role partners closely with culinary, operations, and hotel leadership to ensure flawless execution while maximizing event revenue and delivering world-class guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Event Sales & Client Management
- Respond to inbound event inquiries and successfully convert opportunities into confirmed bookings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the planning process and event execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from contract execution through event completion.
- Conduct venue tours, planning meetings, and consultations to understand client expectations.
- Maximize revenue through strategic upselling of food, beverage, room enhancements, and event packages.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and event documentation while ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Create detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, timelines, and event documentation.
- Coordinate menu selections, room layouts, audiovisual needs, décor, rentals, and vendor logistics.
- Ensure all event details are accurately maintained within Tripleseat and other internal systems.
- Communicate event requirements effectively with culinary, banquet, operations, and hotel leadership.
- Lead event planning meetings and provide operational updates to all departments.
Event Execution
- Oversee on-site event operations to ensure flawless execution and exceptional guest service.
- Coordinate event setup, service flow, and breakdown while maintaining luxury hospitality standards.
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, vendors, and internal departments during events.
- Anticipate guest needs and quickly resolve operational challenges.
- Conduct post-event follow-up and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Collect deposits, final payments, and required event documentation.
- Partner with the Accounting team to ensure accurate billing, accounts receivable, and payment reconciliation.
- Process event closeout documentation promptly following each event.
- Monitor event profitability and identify opportunities to improve revenue performance.
- Maintain organized records of contracts, invoices, event history, and client communications.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Event Managers and junior event staff.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Culinary, Banquet Operations, Front Office, and Executive Leadership.
- Support department initiatives and help improve event planning processes and operational efficiencies.
- Maintain exceptional service standards while fostering a collaborative, guest-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of event sales, event management, or catering experience within a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, upscale hospitality, or private events environment.
- Proven success managing high-end social, corporate, and private events.
- Tripleseat experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event logistics, floor plan creation, and luxury service standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding client service, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and event management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in luxury hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, or high-end hospitality venues.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations and banquet service.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $80,000 annually
