Position Summary
Insight Global is seeking five Controls Software Engineers to support Automated Logic Contracting on the hyperscale data center program in Sullivan, Indiana.
These roles will support PLC programming, Ignition SCADA development, BMS / BAS and EPMS integration, graphics development, alarm configuration, historian setup, system testing, and commissioning support across multiple data halls and critical infrastructure systems.
Open Positions
- Five open positions across multiple experience levels: Mid-Level, Senior, and Lead Controls Software Engineer.
- Preferred location: Atlanta, GA; candidates must be willing to travel to the Sullivan, IN project site as required.
- Data center, mission-critical, industrial automation, Ignition SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLC, BMS / BAS, or EPMS experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
PLC Programming & Controls Logic
- Develop, modify, test, and support PLC / DDC logic for BMS / BAS and EPMS-controlled systems.
- Program systems to align with approved sequences of operation, points lists, naming conventions, and project standards.
- Support Allen-Bradley PLC development, controller configuration, I/O validation, and equipment-level integration.
- Maintain consistent software structure across data halls, mechanical systems, electrical monitoring systems, and vendor interfaces.
Ignition SCADA Development & Integration
- Develop and configure Ignition SCADA applications, graphics, templates, UDTs, alarms, tags, historian functions, and data structures.
- Build graphical interfaces that support campus, building, system, equipment, and device-level visualization.
- Integrate BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, PLC communications, OEM equipment data, and networked field devices into the SCADA environment.
- Support 30%, 60%, and 90% graphics reviews and ensure software deliverables are ready ahead of commissioning milestones.
Testing, Commissioning, and Field Support
- Support software checkout, point validation, system startup, integrated testing, functional performance testing, and Level 3–5 commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot communications, control logic, alarms, trends, graphics, device mappings, and system performance issues.
- Work with commissioning teams to validate equipment operation, failure modes, redundancy, alarms, and sequence execution.
- Document software revisions, test results, open issues, corrective actions, and closeout updates.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with ALC engineering leadership, hardware design engineers, project managers, commissioning teams, OEM vendors, IT / OT teams, electrical contractors, and mechanical contractors.
- Review hardware design packages, points lists, network architecture, vendor protocol documentation, and commissioning plans to confirm software readiness.
- Support issue tracking, RFI responses, design change impacts, and field-driven software updates.
- Maintain structured documentation and version control for all software deliverables.
Systems Supported
- Ignition SCADA, BMS / BAS, EPMS, Allen-Bradley PLCs, DDC controllers, and networked field devices
- Chilled water plant systems, pumps, valves, flow meters, and cooling infrastructure
- CRAH / CRAC / FWU units, CDUs, HVAC systems, and rack-level cooling interfaces
- UPS, ATS, meters, switchgear monitoring, power distribution monitoring, and electrical system interfaces
- BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, PLC communications, gateways, protocol converters, and OEM equipment interfaces
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing PLC, DDC, BMS, BAS, EPMS, SCADA, or industrial automation software.
- Working knowledge of Ignition SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLCs, BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, alarms, trends, tags, graphics, and historian functions.
- Ability to interpret control drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, network diagrams, and equipment integration requirements.
- Experience supporting startup, commissioning, point validation, functional testing, and issue resolution.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
