POSITION SUMMARY
- Responsibilities include implementing policies, programs, and plans approved by management while managing the day-to-day operations of the terminal. Responsible for communications with dispatch in reference to scheduling, monitoring, and supervising deliveries to job sites. Act as an effective liaison between management, safety, dispatchers, and drivers. Working closely with dispatch and the Terminal Manager, the Operations Manager / Supervisor will be the overall operations contact for assigned projects and customers.
This role will work closely with the customer and must have a working knowledge of transportation dispatching, mechanical aptitude, and trucking experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Communicate effectively with customers, company personnel, and drivers to ensure a high level of service.
- Communicate with dispatch to ensure customer needs are met, and equipment and personnel are used to maximum efficiency.
- Confirm that proper load numbers, billing instructions, etc. are documented and correct.
- Communicate all pertinent information for scheduled loads through dispatch and drivers.
- Work with dispatch to manage driver detention through information and paperwork authorization.
- Update and/or forward reports and paperwork to the Terminal Manager as requested.
- Manage driver paperwork and authorized driver payables.
- Document all aspects of the delivery, to include detention, to ensure no issues are overlooked when submitted.
- Initiate professional communication flow to ensure company drivers and contractors complete thorough and accurate information on their delivery forms for pay program to ensure timely and accurate billing, settlements, and collections.
- Communicate with dispatch to coordinate authorized detention and associated trucks and personnel.
- Coordinate projects and work with dispatch to address all operational needs and identify all individuals and groups that will execute the job. As part of the project/job planning process, ensure professional documentation needs are satisfied to monitor daily performance.
- Perform other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the Company.
- Be approachable and build strong relationships with customers, drivers, and colleagues.
- Assist with the hiring, training, and supervise and assign drivers and related personnel as needed or as directed by UST management.
- Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process.
- Coordinate with Operations and maintenance associated to equipment readiness, service, and repairs.
- Work directly with the VP of Operations and Director of Maintenance to ensure area maintenance facilities are servicing, repairing and making equipment ready in accordance with company policies and standards.
- Oversee the maintaining of the facilities in the area to UST standards to maintain a professional and safe working environment.
- Any additional duties assigned that align with the duties of a UST Operations Manager and areas of responsibility.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting with scheduling, monitoring, and supervising all of dispatch.
Transport personnel at the terminal and job sites.
- Assists with hiring and supervises and mentors drivers and mechanics.
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the Terminal(s).
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
