Clinical Sales Manager, Medical Devices, Ophthalmology

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Clinical Sales Manager specializing in Medical Devices within the Ophthalmology field. As a key driver of growth, you will leverage your technical expertise and sales acumen to build strong customer relationships, demonstrate product value through compelling demos, and close high-value deals.

The Clinical Sales Manager is a commission-plus-salary sales role responsible for driving ophthalmic ultrasound revenue growth for Sonomed Escalon UBM AI + ICLguru products.

This role combines direct sales activity, strategic customer relationship management, product demonstrations, and advanced clinical education to convert opportunities, support adoption, and grow business largely focused in the United States and Latin America.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive sales opportunities by using clinical expertise to educate customers, demonstrate product value, support evaluations, manage strategic customer relationships, and help physicians and technicians adopt Sonomed Escalon UBM AI + ICLguru and related ophthalmic ultrasound products.
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share within the ophthalmology sector, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Conduct engaging product demonstrations for ophthalmologists, surgeons, and clinical staff to showcase device features and benefits effectively. Travel to client sites, tradeshows, industry meetings, and company facilities, as required (estimated to be 25-50%).
• Manage a designated territory by identifying new business opportunities, maintaining existing client relationships, and ensuring consistent customer satisfaction.
• Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer, working very closely with sales team, and cross-functionally with marketing, product development, clinical support, technical support, and operations teams to achieve company objectives and identify opportunities for new product features or improvements.
• Provide technical guidance on product usage, troubleshooting, and integration into clinical workflows to ensure optimal customer experience.
• Maintain comprehensive records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status using NetSuite.
• Deliver regular training sessions for internal teams on ophthalmic device innovations, technical specifications, and market trends.

Requirements

• Required: strong ophthalmic ultrasound clinical experience, including UBM, A-scan, and B-scan, combined with a clear sales mindset and comfort owning revenue-generating customer interactions. Preferred: prior ophthalmic diagnostic equipment sales, medical device sales, clinical applications, or customer-facing training experience.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and training skills, including ability to explain clinical and technical issues in user-friendly language to non-versed end users (English language at a minimum; Additional Spanish language, preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals through effective territory management and customer engagement strategies.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, professional, and earnest approach with strong customer service orientation
• Technical sales experience with medical equipment, including conducting product demos and providing technical support post-sale.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients at all organizational levels.
• Leadership qualities that inspire team collaboration, motivate achievement of targets, and foster a customer-centric approach.
• Willingness and ability to travel to client sites, tradeshows, industry meetings, and company facilities, as required.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
