Job Description

The Management Company Accountant will report directly to the Controller and oversee the accounting and financial operations of the investment adviser, general partner, and other affiliated corporate entities.

This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, managing the month-end close process, overseeing accounts payable, supporting budgeting and forecasting, payroll, tax coordination, financial reporting, and enhancing internal controls and operational processes.

This position offers broad exposure across management company accounting, FP&A, treasury, payroll, tax, and corporate finance while partnering with teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the management company general ledger, including oversight of the chart of accounts.
• Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, including vendor onboarding, invoice review, payment processing, and payment confirmations.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to bank statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis against actual results.
• Support payroll administration and employee benefit accounting.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on management company and partner tax matters, including 1099s, partnership tax filings, K-1s, tax payments, and related elections.
• Assist with partner capital activity, including contributions, withdrawals, allocations, and related general ledger entries.
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Establish and maintain controls surrounding cash management, payment approvals, recurring financial processes, and treasury activities.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, capitalization policies, and depreciation schedules.
• Partner with business leaders across the organization to support financial reporting and operational initiatives.
• Interface with banking partners and assist with treasury management activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Approximately 5–12+ years of accounting experience within financial services, including experience supporting management company accounting for an alternative investment manager.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing accounts payable operations, vendor management, invoice processing, and payment workflows.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Knowledge of partnership taxation, including 1099s, partnership returns, K-1 reporting, and related tax concepts.
• Experience with partner capital accounting and management company financial operations is preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with employees across finance, operations, investment, and corporate functions.
• Experience developing accounting policies, procedures, and internal financial controls.
• Familiarity with treasury operations, banking platforms, and cash management processes.
• Experience with ERP and accounting platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar systems is preferred.
• Experience with expense management platforms such as Concur, Navan, Expensify, or similar software is a plus.
• Demonstrated interest in leveraging technology and automation to improve accounting processes.
