Position Summary

Kutlesa is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Sales Manager to lead sales strategy and client development for our New York gallery. This role is central to the gallery's growth in the U.S. market — building and nurturing collector relationships, driving primary market sales, and representing Kutlesa's artist program with professionalism and passion at the gallery, art fairs, and private client meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full sales cycle for gallery exhibitions, art fairs, and private sales, from client inquiry through shipping coordination
• Cultivate and expand a network of collectors, advisors, curators, and institutions in New York and internationally
• Develop and execute sales strategies in collaboration with the Gallery Director to meet revenue targets
• Maintain detailed client and inventory records via the gallery's CRM/database (e.g., Artlogic or similar)
• Prepare sales materials, price lists, condition reports, and collector proposals
• Represent Kutlesa at exhibition openings, VIP previews, and art fairs (domestic and international travel required)
• Build strong working relationships with represented artists and studios to align sales efforts with artistic vision
• Track market trends, secondary market activity, and competitor positioning to inform pricing and placement decisions
• Coordinate with registrar/logistics on shipping, and installation scheduling as needed
• Provide regular sales reporting and forecasting to gallery leadership

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of experience in gallery sales, art advisory, auction house client services, or a related art market role
• Established or demonstrable ability to build relationships with collectors and art world professionals
• Deep knowledge of and genuine passion for contemporary art; familiarity with current market trends
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple client relationships and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency with gallery CRM systems, Excel/Google Sheets, and general digital tools
• Willingness to travel for art fairs and occasionally work evenings/weekends for openings and events
• Bachelor's degree in Art History, Business, or related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience
