Role Objective / Purpose To lead INFELC’s engineering function across utility-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring high quality, compliant, and cost-effective designs with timely delivery. The role oversees integration of technologies such as BESS and SCADA, drives technical innovation, optimizes engineering budgets and develops team capabilities to support efficient, sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities and Authorities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end engineering design and technical execution of utility-scale solar PV systems, energy storage solutions, and hybrid renewable systems.
- Oversee integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and SCADA platforms for system monitoring, automation, and grid compliance.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and sustainability targets.
- Establish and maintain QA/QC protocols across engineering design, procurement specifications, and construction interfaces.
- Ability to read, interpret, and validate electrical schematics, layout drawings, and system integration plans
- Stay current on local (e.g., DEWA, ADWEA) and international (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC) codes and standards, ensuring strict compliance in all engineering outputs.
- Lead internal technical reviews, peer audits, and value engineering processes to ensure optimal design and cost efficiency.
- Ensure engineering cost efficiency by implementing value engineering practices and optimizing design choices to reduce overall system costs without compromising performance or quality.
- Monitor and control engineering budgets, ensuring all technical deliverables are produced within approved financial parameters and aligned with project-specific ROI expectations.
- Establish and enforce engineering delivery timelines, ensuring all design phases from concept to IFC are completed in line with project milestones and contractual obligations.
- Develop and execute a structured team development plan, facilitating continuous learning through technical workshops, cross-functional knowledge sharing, and exposure to emerging industry tools and technologies.
- Develop and maintain engineering SOPs, design standards, and technical documentation.
- Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers across electrical, mechanical, and control systems disciplines.
- Track and report on engineering progress, risks, and variances, proactively addressing delays or budget deviations through corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with the Projects and Procurement teams to provide technical input during tenders, vendor selection, and equipment evaluation.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies in solar, storage, and control systems to enhance system performance, design efficiency, and long-term project value.
