Controller, Private Investment Firm

A growing private investment firm (~$1B AUM) is seeking an experienced Controller to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this hands-on role will oversee fund, management company, and related entity accounting while partnering closely with leadership across the organization.

Location: 5 days/week in office

Compensation

~$200K base + $75K–$100K bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for investment funds, management company, GP entities, broker-dealer, and related structures
• Manage and review work performed by third-party fund administrators
• Support fund liquidity management, cash forecasting, capital calls, and distributions
• Coordinate annual audits and regulatory filings (ADV, Form PF)
• Review fund legal documents and partnership agreements
• Prepare investor reporting and respond to LP and due diligence requests
• Assist with investment adviser and broker-dealer compliance requirements
• Lead special projects and process improvements as needed

Ideal Background

• 8+ years of accounting/finance experience
• CPA preferred
• Combination of public accounting and private fund experience highly valued
• Strong experience with private equity, closed-end funds, fund-of-funds, or alternative investment structures
• Knowledge of investment company accounting required
• Exposure to operating company accounting is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a lean, collaborative environment
