ERP Financials Functional Analyst Position Overview

We are seeking an ERP Financials Functional Analyst to support the ongoing enhancement, configuration, and operation of a large-scale financial management platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more financial modules, with a strong preference for General Ledger, Budgeting, or related accounting functionality.

This individual will partner with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and technical development teams to evaluate business needs and translate them into effective system solutions. Responsibilities will include requirements gathering, functional design, configuration, testing, documentation, training, and production support.

The successful candidate should understand the full systems development lifecycle and be comfortable working both independently and within a cross-functional team. A strong commitment to customer service, quality, and continuous process improvement is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze business requirements, operational concerns, and system enhancement requests.
• Configure and maintain ERP financial functionality based on business, accounting, compliance, and reporting needs.
• Partner with finance stakeholders and subject matter experts to define and refine functional requirements.
• Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and system design documentation.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and properly implemented.
• Develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, and scripts for new configurations and system enhancements.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and document testing results.
• Research and troubleshoot application, data, and user-related issues.
• Recommend solutions and process improvements based on system and business analysis.
• Support the development and maintenance of operating procedures, configuration standards, and project documentation.
• Create and update user guides, training materials, and other system documentation.
• Facilitate training sessions and provide ongoing support to system users.
• Evaluate new functionality, technologies, and platform enhancements that may improve operational efficiency.
• Coordinate activities across business, functional, and technical workstreams.
• Ensure system functionality aligns with applicable policies, regulations, internal controls, and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Experience supporting financial functionality within an enterprise ERP platform.
• Knowledge of General Ledger, Budgeting, financial reporting, or related accounting processes.
• Ability to analyze business processes, system configurations, and data to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Experience gathering and documenting functional and business requirements.
• Ability to create clear functional specifications, process documentation, and system design materials.
• Experience developing and executing test plans and test scripts.
• Familiarity with data extraction, validation, and reconciliation methods.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues in partnership with functional and technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical or system-related information to business stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and workgroups.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to deliver training and support to end users.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least three years of relevant ERP, financial systems, accounting, or functional analyst experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Workday Financial Management, including General Ledger, Budgets, or related financial modules.
• Experience working in a regulated, highly structured, or complex enterprise environment.
• Background supporting public sector, higher education, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizations.
• Experience interpreting business requirements and converting them into application designs.
• Demonstrated ability to identify innovative approaches for improving financial accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes.
