Preschool & Toddler Teacher: Lead and Assistant (Bilingual Mandarin)

Growing Stem Academy is a bilingual (English-Mandarin) preschool in Dogpatch inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, serving children ages 2-6. We are looking for an experienced early childhood educator to join our Mandarin-English play-based program, leading age-appropriate activities for toddlers and pre-K students.

We value creativity and imagination, attention to details, an interest in growing and learning and an ability to connect with a diverse community.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 ECE units and experience working with young children. There is lots of potential for growth for the right candidate. Chinese/English competency is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Classroom Environment

• Plan and implement engaging lessons tailored to students' developmental needs with lead teacher.
• Foster a supportive and warm classroom climate.
• Develop meaningful connections with students and families.
• Use reflective practices to continuously improve teaching strategies.

2. Classroom Management

• Maintain a consistent, proactive approach to guidance and behavioral expectations.
• Orchestrate smooth transitions and engaging activities.
• Create a well-organized, aesthetically pleasing, and intentional classroom space.
• Balance variety and challenge to keep children engaged.

3. Instructional Planning and Student Engagement

• Design learning objectives that are thoughtful and developmentally appropriate.
• Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning styles.
• Incorporate open-ended questions and real-world connections into lessons.
• Monitor lesson momentum and ensure optimal student engagement.

4. Student Supervision and Safety

• Supervise students in classrooms, during transitions, and on field trips.
• Promote safe play and facilitate problem-solving among students.
• Ensure safety procedures are consistently followed during activities and drills.

5. Collaboration with Families

• Partner with families to establish shared goals for students' growth and development.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with families about student progress and classroom activities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Degree (AA/AS or BA/BS) in Early Childhood Education or a related field. OR >12 ECE/CDEV units
• Experience: Previous experience working with children ages 1.5-6 in an educational setting.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.(English & Chinese)
• Organization: Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Interpersonal Skills: Outgoing, flexible, and optimistic, with the ability to resolve conflicts gracefully.
• Professional Growth: Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
• Technology: Proficiency in relevant computer applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $33.00 per hour
