GCC seeks to add a Union Underground Foreman to our team of skilled and dedicated staff. The Underground Foreman plans, coordinates, and manages onsite excavation crew to meet the daily and weekly goals for maximum productivity while maintaining budgetary constraints. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines. Can help with entry into union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Oversee the progress of underground construction sites.
• The intermediary between workers and supervisors.
• Scheduling and planning the underground work for the day.
• Assigning tasks to field employees.
• Utilizing the correct machinery at the job site
• Making sure the excavating project is being completed in a timely matter.
• Overseeing and implementing health and safety procedures on the job.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

3-5+ years of experience as a Underground Foreman. Knowledge of job sites, crews, heavy civil construction, and excavating projects.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-employment background screening investigation results that are acceptable to GCC at GCC’s sole discretion.

• Reference and prior work verification.
• Drug/alcohol test (negative test results).
• Background/security clearance.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, and factor analysis.

Ability to define and document problems, collect data, and establish facts.
