Accounting Assistant

Position Overview

The Nicholas Family of Companies is seeking a full-time Accounting Assistant to join our growing accounting department. This is an in-person position based in Mount Prospect, IL, supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses within the Nicholas Family of Companies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to contribute to a collaborative accounting team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary data entry resource for various accounting functions.
• Assist with project documentation, including tracking allowances and change orders.
• Process intercompany transactions, vendor invoices, and customer invoices accurately and timely.
• Prepare and assist with ad hoc financial reports and data requests.
• Provide administrative and accounting support to the Controllers across the Nicholas Family of Companies.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure documentation is complete and organized.
• Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Construction accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and the flexibility to support multiple industries and business entities.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
