Position Summary

Pickens-Kane is seeking an experienced, hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead operations at our approximately 400,000-square-foot commercial and residential moving and storage facility.

This is a critical leadership position responsible for daily warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, space utilization, safety, staffing, and continuous improvement. One of the manager’s first major priorities will be evaluating, reorganizing, and optimizing the facility to improve storage capacity, inventory control, product flow, retrieval times, housekeeping, and overall efficiency.

The Warehouse Manager will typically supervise a warehouse crew of two to eight employees, depending on daily volume and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate has direct experience in the moving and storage industry and understands the challenges of handling commercial furniture, residential household goods, storage vaults, customer-owned property, project-based receiving, and time-sensitive retrievals.

Experience with MoveHQ/Windfall or a comparable warehouse management system is preferred.

This is a working management position. The successful candidate must be visible on the warehouse floor, actively coach employees, inspect work, solve operational problems, enforce standards, and personally lead the facility reorganization.

Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse Leadership

• Manage daily operations throughout a 400,000-square-foot moving and storage facility.
• Direct, schedule, train, and supervise a daily warehouse crew of approximately two to eight employees.
• Assign work based on inbound shipments, outbound projects, retrieval requests, storage activity, and operational priorities.
• Establish clear expectations for productivity, attendance, safety, inventory accuracy, quality, and housekeeping.
• Coach employees in real time and address performance or accountability problems promptly.
• Ensure the warehouse is properly staffed and prepared for scheduled commercial and residential projects.
• Maintain a visible, hands-on presence throughout the facility.
• Report warehouse performance, operational concerns, and improvement progress to the Vice President of Operations.

Facility Reorganization and Optimization

• Complete a full assessment of the warehouse layout, storage practices, inventory flow, equipment placement, and space utilization.
• Develop and execute a practical warehouse reorganization plan.
• Establish clearly defined receiving, staging, put-away, storage, retrieval, loading, equipment, and disposal areas.
• Create consistent warehouse zones, aisle designations, traffic patterns, fire lanes, dock areas, and storage-location standards.
• Identify unused, underused, congested, or poorly organized areas.
• Improve storage capacity without compromising safety, accessibility, or inventory accuracy.
