Role Description

The Comic Illustrator Colorer and Letterer volunteer role is a remote position focused on bringing comic scripts to life through visual art and text. Day-to-day tasks include creating character and environment illustrations, inking and refining line work, and applying digital or traditional color to comic pages.

The role also involves adding lettering, including dialogue balloons, sound effects, and captions, while ensuring clarity, readability, and visual harmony with the artwork. The individual will collaborate with writers and other artists, follow project guidelines and timelines, and prepare print- or web-ready files.

This is a volunteer role designed for creatives seeking experience, portfolio development, and collaboration on storytelling projects.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational art skills, including Drawing and Painting.
• Proficiency in Digital Illustration and working with Graphics tools or software.
• Experience or training in Graphic Design, especially layout, composition, and visual hierarchy.
• Ability to handle comic-specific tasks such as coloring, inking, and lettering with attention to detail and consistency.
• Access to relevant illustration and design software (e.g., Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Illustrator) and ability to work digitally.
• Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate with a creative team in a remote environment.
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
• Prior experience with comics, sequential art, or storytelling is beneficial, as is a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
