Overview
A Chicago-based healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance operations across multiple ambulatory surgery centers and medical office buildings. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong healthcare facility experience who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. THIS is a Fulltime + 24/7 On-call position.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily facility maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across multiple healthcare properties
- Coordinate regulatory and preventative maintenance inspections including medical gas systems, fire/sprinkler systems, elevators, generators, HVAC, and other mechanical systems
- Maintain accurate documentation for compliance with city, state, and healthcare regulatory agencies
- Respond to facility alarms and emergencies on a 24/7 on-call basis
- Work closely with third-party property management and external vendors
- Negotiate vendor contracts and service quotes with cost-efficiency in mind
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs (painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Fully and professionally respond to and implement directives and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel, as well as professionally offered feedback from coworkers.
- Maintain work logs and inventory of maintenance supplies for each location
- Serve as liaison for renovation and construction projects
- Manage building access systems (electronic badges, keys, locks, security cameras, HVAC automation)
- Ensure clean, organized maintenance areas and proper tool storage
- Investigate and resolve facility-related concerns or complaints
Experience
- Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work well in an environment with frequent priority changes and deliver excellent customer service to tenants and facilities.
- Previous building management experience with a preference for multi-site healthcare setting.
- Basic Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall repair, machine servicing, or electrical. Construction experience desirable but not required.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- FMP (Facility Management Professional) and/or CPMM (Certified Plant Maintenance Manager) certification preferred.
- Previous Building Engineer experience, including healthcare, ambulatory surgical center, hospital, or commercial facility operations strongly preferred.
- Experience with Local 399 Building Engineer environments or equivalent facilities engineering experience preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience maintaining critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, preventative maintenance, and life safety compliance.
- Ability to function independently in a hands-on facilities role supporting daily operations across a healthcare environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 5 years experience in facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will be familiar with local building codes, Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) work standards and Joint Commission/IDPH standards for ambulatory surgery centers and possess a general working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, sprinkler systems, elevator systems and security systems.
- Must be able to lift, push/pull 50lbs. Climb ladders and stairs as necessary.
- Valid Driver's License, vehicle and insurance for travel between facilities.
- Availability to work before/after scheduled hours as needed.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume
- additional or new responsibilities readily.
Schedule
Monday-Friday (onsite)
on-call 27/7 for facility alarms/emergencies
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
