Construction Inspector – Transportation Infrastructure (CEI)

Travel: Approximately 20–40%, depending on project requirement

$33–$55/hour depending on experience, certifications, and qualificatio

A leading national engineering and infrastructure firm is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors to support upcoming transportation projects.

This is an opportunity to join a respected CEI team delivering major roadway and infrastructure programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed field inspections of transportation construction projects, including:
• Roadway construction
• Bridge construction
• Drainage systems
• Erosion and sediment control
• Maintenance of traffic
• Verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods meet project requirements.
• Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Document daily inspection activities, measurements, progress, and contractor performance.
• Identify issues, communicate findings, and support project teams in maintaining quality standards.
• Perform field calculations and utilize inspection tools and technology to complete reporting requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• 6+ years of transportation construction inspection experience.
• Strong knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, and equipment.
• Experience working on roadway, bridge, or public infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn project-specific software/tools.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• DOT, ACI, NICET, or similar construction inspection certifications preferred.
