A lower middle-market private equity firm focused on healthcare is hiring a Controller, Head of Reporting to serve as the senior financial steward for the firm. Reporting directly to the CFO, this person will own accounting and reporting across both the management company and the funds.

It is a hands-on, high-visibility seat for someone who wants direct partnership with senior leadership and room to build the firm’s financial infrastructure as it grows.

Responsibilities

• Fund accounting and reporting, including LP reporting on a quarterly and annual basis, fund valuations, management fees, expense allocations, and fund metrics including IRR and returns analysis.
• Preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis, and primary liaison with the fund administrator and external auditors.
• Development of LP reporting packages, investor communications, and management review dashboards.
• Management company accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger ownership, internal controls, and support of fund carry and waterfall administration and GP/LP agreement processes.
• Compliance and tax support, including serving as the primary contact for annual audits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax filings, and supporting GP and fund-level tax planning.
• Systems and process improvement, including identifying and implementing financial management tools and reporting systems, and driving automation and scalability across the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 10-15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with a foundation in public accounting, ideally serving asset management or private equity clients.
• Direct private fund accounting experience is required
• Management company level finance experience within a private equity or alternative investment business is important.
• CPA required
• Advanced Excel and strong reporting skills, with a track record of implementing systems and processes in a growing fund business.
• Comfort owning the work directly, sitting close to the partners, and building infrastructure.
