Our client, Venice Family Clinic, a program of UCLA Health, is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and strengthen financial infrastructure supporting a large, complex nonprofit healthcare environment.

Serving tens of thousands of patients annually through an extensive network of clinics, mobile health programs, and street medicine initiatives, Venice Family Clinic is recognized nationally for delivering high-quality integrated care to underserved communities.

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, audit coordination, internal controls, and team leadership for a multi-site healthcare organization operating within a sophisticated nonprofit and academic health system environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, healthcare or nonprofit financial leadership experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, mission-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, AP, payroll accounting, and financial reporting
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
• Partner closely with operational leadership across clinics and programs
• Improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial transparency
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while building scalable finance infrastructure
• Collaborate with UCLA and organizational leadership on financial strategy and reporting initiatives

Ideal Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Public accounting, healthcare, FQHC, nonprofit, hospital, academic medical center, or large multisite organization experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting
• Experience managing audits and complex financial reporting environments
• Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills
• Systems-oriented mindset with ability to improve processes and workflows
