We are seeking a highly experienced, technical, and authoritative Electric Foreman to manage field construction, lead electrical installation crews, and ensure strict compliance with engineering plans and safety standards.
Job Summary
The Electric Foreman is a critical leadership role responsible for the direct field supervision, execution, and quality assurance of commercial solar PV and multi-megawatt battery energy storage projects.
This is a working-foreman position; the ideal candidate will command a field crew of journeyman electricians and installers while actively participating in hands-on electrical work, intricate terminations, and complex installations alongside the team. This role requires both high-level technical field leadership and active tool-time implementation.
Travel, Lodging & Per Diem Logistics
Logistical Package: This position requires extensive field travel to project sites. EPC Energy provides 100% company-paid travel arrangements (including flights/fleet vehicles), lodging, and a tax-free daily Per Diem allowance to cover meals and incidental expenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Hands-On Electrical Installation & Execution: Actively work with tools on-site alongside the installation crew to perform intricate terminations, complex wiring, gear placement, and high-voltage connections as a working supervisor.
- Project Execution & Scheduling: Develop, execute, and fine-tune look-ahead project plans and field schedules; translate complex AutoCAD permit drawing, layouts, and engineering packages into daily crew tasks.
- Field Supervision & Mentorship: Direct, train, and audit the workmanship of Journeyman Electricians and installers on-site, ensuring proper craftsmanship, routing, and device terminations.
- Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Inspect and verify the structural and electrical integration of BESS units, string/central inverters, DC combiners, switchboards, and grid interconnection enclosures.
- Safety Enforcement: Serve as the primary on-site safety officer, conducting Daily Safety Briefings (Tailgates) and ensuring absolute adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash), and company safety protocols.
- Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Oversee full project inventory controls. Responsibilities include ordering, tracking, verifying, and securing long-lead electrical components, major equipment deliveries, heavy machinery, and field consumable stocks to eliminate project downtime.
- Advanced Troubleshooting & Commissioning: Lead the diagnostic testing, loop checks, insulation resistance testing (meggering), and commissioning sequences for commercial energy storage enclosures and battery management systems (BMS).
- Regulatory Compliance: Verify that all raceway installations, grounding, bonding, and continuous conductor runs fully comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC Articles 690 and 706) and local AHJ jurisdictions.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Serve as the primary interface between EPC Energy, general contractors, utility representatives, civil trades, and municipal building inspectors.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily site logs, as-built drawing markups, RFI submissions, and equipment checklist reports utilizing standard project software.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid Electrical Journeyman License or Master Electrician designation (State-issued).
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of field leadership experience as a Foreman, Crew Lead, or Supervisor in commercial or industrial electrical construction, with a strong background in tool-time execution.
- Project Portfolio: Direct hands-on experience installing or supervising commercial-scale solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Technical Literacy: Advanced capacity to interpret architectural plan sets, detailed blueprints, electrical schematics, three-line diagrams, and manufacturer equipment specifications.
- Mobility & Logistics: Valid Driver's License with a clean, insurable driving record and absolute willingness to travel extensively to remote project job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Certification: NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Certification.
- Safety Certifications: OSHA 30 Certification along with current NFPA 70E Electrical Safety training.
- Industry Expertise: Proficient knowledge of micro-inverter systems, central inverter skids, medium-voltage transformations, and utility-grade grid interconnection.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with experience handling direct client and utility relations.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Schedule: Standard shift is 8 to 10 hours daily, Monday through Friday, with scheduled overtime or weekend shifts depending on critical project interconnect windows.
- Physical Capacity: Full ability to work with heavy professional hand and power tools daily. Robust capability to routinely lift and manipulate structural components or electrical gear weighing up to 50+ lbs independently, and participate in coordinated team lifts.
- Agility & Heights: Full physical mobility to scale construction scaffolding, climb ladders, walk pitched roofs, and safely navigate unpaved terrain.
- Environmental Tolerance: Ability to perform intensive physical work in diverse outdoor environments, including extreme heat, cold, dust, humidity, and inclement weather.
