Trust and Safety Analyst, Scams and Verification

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.
• 2 years of experience in SQL, working with datasets and visualization or Large Language Models (LLMs).
• 2 years of experience managing escalations and cross-functional projects with Engineering, Legal, Sales or Product teams to deploy policy or process changes.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: coding (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java), databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, Hadoop), statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).
• Experience with fraud risk management and investigations, internet advertising, or e-commerce. along with working in a security or privacy team on data protection and user trust.
• Deep understanding of online advertising and regulatory trends.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.
• Excellent people management and influencing skills.

About The Job

In Trust and Safety, we protect users, prevent abuse across and support high quality products, and ensure we are a trusted source of information, interactions, and content. We defend Google's integrity by fighting spam, scams, fraud and abuse, and develop, communicate, and enforce product policies.

We work with a variety of teams from Engineering to Legal, Public Policy and Sales to set policies and combat fraud and abuse in a scalable way, often with an eye to finding industry-wide solutions.

Trust and Safety team members are problem solvers first, motivated to find innovative solutions and use technical know-how, user insights and proactive communication to pursue the highest possible quality and safety standards for users across Google products.

In this role, you will work on organizing and understanding relationships between all aspects of the digital advertising chain and making them accessible and useful to stop scams and abuse on Google Ads. You will deploy key defenses to stop abuse, increase friction for bad actors, enable user transparency and get ahead of regulatory trends.

You’ll collaborate with the best teams and individuals Google has to offer, spanning Ads Integrity Engineering, Trust and Safety, Legal, Sales, Public Relations (PR), and more.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $116000 - $166000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Perform complex data analyses to deliver actionable insights that guide strategic decision-making and uphold user trust in online advertising.
• Identify fraud trends, collaborate with Abuse teams to catch bad actors, and implement enforcement strategies to address policy violations and questionable business practices.
• Partner with engineering, sales, legal, and policy groups to deploy innovative processes, share adversarial knowledge, and proactively anticipate regulatory trends.
• Enhance processes, identify automation opportunities, and draft clear, detailed documentation/business requirements to align stakeholders and expand the knowledge base.
• Provide periodic on-call coverage and to manage high priority escalations that may occur outside of standard non work hours including weekends/holidays. Be able to review or be exposed to sensitive or violative content as part of core role.
