The Morini and Slaugenhaupt Laboratories at the Center for Genomic Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join an interdisciplinary team investigating the molecular mechanisms of Familial Dysautonomia (FD) and developing novel therapeutic strategies.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge translational research, including single-cell transcriptomic studies of FD mouse models and the development and preclinical evaluation of innovative therapeutic approaches, including gene editing and small-molecule therapies aimed at correcting the underlying splicing defect responsible for the disease.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing translational research on Familial Dysautonomia through both therapeutic development and disease modeling.
Responsibilities will include supporting single-cell transcriptomic studies in FD mouse models, conducting preclinical efficacy studies of novel therapeutic approaches and performing molecular and cellular biology techniques such as genotyping, tissue processing, RNA isolation, qPCR, Western blotting, and next-generation sequencing library preparation.
The candidate will also assist with mouse colony management, behavioral phenotyping, and the collection of high-quality samples for downstream genomic analyses.
We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual who thrives in a fast-paced research environment. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A background or strong interest in neuroscience, genetics, genomics, molecular biology, or therapeutic development is highly desirable.
Prior experience with mouse handling and colony management, as well as familiarity with RNA biology or next-generation sequencing techniques, is preferred but not required.
