Application Security Engineer – Data Security

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite per Week)

Job Type: Contract (6–12+ Months, Extensions Possible)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Developer with a strong background in cybersecurity and software engineering to support enterprise-wide data security initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who enjoys building automation, security-focused applications, and scalable solutions that help protect sensitive data and reduce cyber risk.

The ideal candidate will have strong Python development skills, experience with application/software security, endpoint security technologies, cloud platforms, and modern DevOps practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Technical Skills (Most Important)

• Strong programming experience in Python
• Solid development experience with JavaScript
• Experience in Application Security / Software Security
• Hands-on experience with Endpoint Security Technologies
• Programming experience in at least one of the following:
• Java
• C++
• C#
• Experience building scalable automation and security-focused solutions

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience working with cloud platforms:
• AWS
• Microsoft Azure
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with Git and version control systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
• Experience with Docker and containerization technologies

Security Knowledge

Strong understanding of

• Authentication vs. Authorization
• Encryption vs. Hashing
• Secure Secrets Management / Vault Technologies
• Salting and Weak Hashing Algorithms
• Secure Software Development Practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation tools and security-focused applications.
• Build scalable software solutions using Python, JavaScript, and object-oriented programming languages.
• Support enterprise data security initiatives including DLP, encryption, data classification, and access governance.
• Integrate APIs and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reporting.
• Work within cloud environments and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with security, engineering, architecture, privacy, legal, and platform teams.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system design documents.
• Identify vulnerabilities and implement security improvements across applications and platforms.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide cybersecurity and data protection programs.
