Senior Trial Attorney – Insurance Defense

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Trial Attorney to join our growing insurance defense practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience handling insurance defense matters, including both first-chair and second-chair trial experience, and a proven ability to manage cases from inception through verdict. This role offers substantial courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, leadership opportunities, and a clear path for professional growth.

What You'll Do

• Independently manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters.
• Serve as first-chair counsel in trials, arbitrations, mediations, and hearings.
• Act as second-chair counsel on complex, high-exposure litigation matters.
• Develop and execute litigation strategy from case intake through resolution.
• Conduct and defend depositions, including expert, corporate representative, and fact witness depositions.
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and evidentiary motions.
• Prepare witnesses, experts, and clients for trial.
• Attend court appearances, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and exposure and provide strategic recommendations to clients and carriers.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely reporting and case assessments.
• Mentor and develop junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on litigation strategy and practice development initiatives.

Ideal Experience

• 10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Demonstrated first-chair trial experience through verdict.
• Significant second-chair trial experience supporting complex litigation matters.
• Experience handling a broad range of insurance defense cases, including:
• General liability
• Premises liability
• Construction defect
• Transportation and trucking
• Product liability
• Catastrophic injury claims
• Professional liability (preferred)
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Experience working directly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the applicable state bar.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management abilities.
• Ability to independently manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
