As our portfolio expands, we are seeking a Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building scalable financial processes while maintaining the highest standards of financial reporting and compliance.

Position Summary

The Controller will lead the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the company and serve as a key member of the finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements, managing audits, coordinating tax compliance, overseeing treasury activities, administering payroll, and supporting the continued growth of the organization.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a hands-on approach and is comfortable working across multiple disciplines within accounting, finance, and administration. This individual will play an important role in supporting a growing portfolio of renewable natural gas projects and helping establish the financial infrastructure necessary for continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Prepare accurate and timely GAAP financial statements.
• Produce financial statements at multiple reporting levels, including:
• Individual legal entities
• Project-level entities
• Consolidated corporate financial statements
• Management and lender reporting packages
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Perform technical accounting research and document accounting conclusions when necessary.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Treasury & Cash Management

• Manage daily cash activities and liquidity across multiple bank accounts.
• Oversee treasury operations for multiple project entities and financing structures.
• Process wire transfers, ACH transactions, and other banking activities.
• Prepare lender compliance reporting and borrowing base support, as applicable.
• Assist with cash forecasting and debt management.

Payroll & Human Resources Administration

• Process payroll accurately and timely.
• Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding.

Banking & External Relationships – optional depending on candidate

• Maintain relationships with banking partners.
• Coordinate lender reporting and financing requests.
• Support insurance renewals and maintain relationships with insurance brokers.
• Work collaboratively with outside insurance brokers, legal counsel, tax advisors, and other professional service providers particularly during M&A activity.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Serve as the primary administrator for Sage Intacct.
• Develop management reports and dashboards to support business decision-making.
• Integrate acquisitions into treasury, payroll, and accounting systems as necessary

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate accounting leadership.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidated financial reporting.
• Experience coordinating external audits and working with outside tax advisors.
• Treasury and cash management experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Preferred

• Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, energy, utilities, or project-based businesses.
• Experience working with project finance or asset-level financing structures.
• Experience supporting a high-growth or private equity-backed organization.
• Familiarity with lender reporting requirements and covenant compliance.
• Experience building scalable accounting processes in a growing company.
• Experience processing payroll and administering payroll systems.
• Experience using Sage Intacct
