Position Overview

C&H Landscaping is seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Technician/Foreman to maintain and enhance high-end residential landscapes throughout the Denver metro area. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about plants, takes pride in detailed horticultural work, and enjoys working outdoors on some of the area's premier properties.

Our garden maintenance division focuses exclusively on ornamental landscape care. We do not perform lawn mowing, tree trimming, or turf fertilization services. The ideal candidate will have strong plant knowledge, experience maintaining ornamental gardens, and the ability to independently identify and address landscape maintenance needs throughout the seasons.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain high-end residential landscapes to the highest standards.
• Perform seasonal garden maintenance including spring and fall cleanups.
• Prune shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, and other landscape plants according to proper horticultural practices.
• Deadhead annuals and perennials to encourage continued flowering and plant health.
• Cut back perennials and ornamental grasses at appropriate times throughout the year.
• Weed planting beds and monitor overall garden health.
• Maintain mulch beds, including touch-ups and redistribution as needed.
• Identify plant health issues and communicate recommendations to management.
• Install and replace landscape plants, including trees and shrubs up to 15-gallon container size.
• Assist with irrigation observations and report issues when identified.
• Operate company vehicles safely and professionally.
• Lead and train crew members when assigned as a foreman.
• Communicate professionally with clients and represent the company in a positive manner.

Qualifications

Required

• Prior professional garden maintenance or horticulture experience.
• Working knowledge of ornamental plants commonly used in Colorado landscapes.
• Understanding of proper pruning, deadheading, cutback, and seasonal maintenance practices.
• Ability to distinguish between annuals, perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and other landscape plant material.
• Ability to identify plant care needs and maintain landscape appearance throughout the growing season.
• Knowledge of when to prune, deadhead, divide, and cut back plants throughout the growing season.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate company trucks.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and plants.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a maintenance crew or serving as a foreman.
• Experience towing and backing trailers.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Colorado Pesticide Applicator License or fertilizer application certification.
• Knowledge of common landscape pests, diseases, and environmental stress issues affecting ornamental plants.
• Ability to identify early signs of plant disease, insect damage, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Experience with plant health care and fertilizer applications.
• Formal horticulture, landscape, or nursery experience.

Work Schedule

Primary Season (March-October)

• Monday-Thursday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Friday: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• No weekend work

Winter Season (November-February)

Garden maintenance work is limited during winter months. Part-time work may be available; however, candidates should understand that consistent full-time hours are generally not available during this period.

We are looking for someone who notices the details. The ideal candidate understands the difference between shearing and proper pruning, knows when plants should be cut back versus left standing for winter interest, and takes pride in creating beautiful landscapes that exceed client expectations. A strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude are just as important as horticultural knowledge.

Compensation

Competitive pay based on experience, qualifications, leadership ability, and applicable certifications.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
