IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN).

Duties

• You will provide technical oversight to military and civilian personnel on microcomputer operations, software applications and automated system security.
• You will analyze, evaluate, and monitor current microcomputer configuration to determine enhancements, upgrades, and modifications needed to improve performance and production and reduce costs.
• You will maintain custody of cell phones, landlines, microcomputers equipment (software and hardware), prepare site surveys, inventory reports, budget and software management and maintenance reports for equipment and software problems.
• You will order and deliver equipment and services in accordance with Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) policy and directives.
• You will provide customer assistance and/or training for assigned systems.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Information Assurance Technician (IAT) certification - Level II.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Providing comprehensive technical oversight and systems administration for computer operations, software applications, and automated system security; 2) Managing hardware and software inventories, providing hands-on training and customer support to end-users, and ensuring network performance and connectivity for the Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI) or similar networks; 3) Having knowledge of IT security principles, systems administration methods, and customer support protocols to ensure optimal system availability and information assurance; and 4) Possessing the ability to monitor the functionality of networks and systems, detect and report problems, provide updates and assistance to customers on installed systems, and implement required system changes.

Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Ability to review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation. • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Communicates, explains, or defends ideas or information clearly. Listens to others and recognize potential miscommunications.
• Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Uses logic to identify alternatives to solve problems. Identifies and solve problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives.
