Research concentrates on trafficking essential for cilia or flagella biogenesis using cryogenic electron tomography. By combining cell biology and structural biology, experiments aim to understand molecular and structural function cilia or flagella using Trypanosoma brucei, a single celled parasite cell, as a model organism and pave the way to treat various important ciliopathy diseases.
The successful candidate will work with other lab members to conduct cell culture, molecular and cellular biology (cloning, genetic manipulation of singe-cell system), immunofluorescence-labelling, and cryo-electron tomography. Organization of lab space, coordination with other lab members for ordering and stocks, and presentation of data at lab meetings are essential.
The candidate will assist the PI with experimental design, implementation of novel strategies/procedures, and manuscript preparation for publication, including figures and writing.
