Engineer II (Java Backend Engineer)

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Java Backend Engineers to join a high-performing team supporting a leading financial services client. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java 8, Spring Boot, and Microservices/API development, with experience building scalable, resilient, and high-performing enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and support Microservices and RESTful APIs for enterprise-scale applications.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA teams, and other developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring system stability and performance.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment processes.
• Support Agile development practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8, including:
• Collections Framework
• Multithreading and Concurrency
• Stream API
• Functional Interfaces and Lambda Expressions
• Strong experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing Microservices and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with source control tools such as Git.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Reactive Programming, preferably Vert.x.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms.
• Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions (GHA).
• Experience working in cloud and distributed environments.
• Financial services domain experience is a plus.
