The HSE Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies within the company s operations. This role ensures compliance with all relevant UAE, and international safety regulations, while proactively reducing hazards and fostering a culture of safety.
The HSE Engineer will lead strategic initiatives, provide technical support, conduct risk assessments, and ensure practical implementation of safety measures.
Key Responsibilities
- HSE Leadership: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive HSE programs and initiatives, aligning them with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all safety protocols are implemented effectively across the MRO operations.
- Strategic Oversight and Compliance: Ensure the organization s adherence to UAE and international HSE regulations, including aviation-specific safety standards, OSHA, and environmental legislation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies and industry partners to stay updated on evolving regulations.
- Risk and Incident Management: Oversee and support the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken.
- Team Leadership and Development : Lead safety workshops and campaigns to promote HSE awareness and culture across all departments.
- Reporting and Monitoring : Provide regular reports to senior management on HSE performance, including injury rates, incident trends, and regulatory compliance.
- Implement performance monitoring tools to track safety initiatives and ensure continuous improvement.
- Technical HSE Support: Act as the primary technical expert on safety matters, conducting detailed risk assessments, hazard analyses, HSE instructions, and safety audits in the field.
- Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Perform investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure that all findings from investigations are reported to the Operations manager and appropriate regulatory bodies if necessary.
- Environmental Management: Provide technical guidance on environmental policies related to waste management, hazardous materials handling, and pollution prevention.
- Ensure that all MRO processes comply with environmental regulations, performing regular assessments to identify potential improvements.
- Training and Safety Enforcement: Develop and deliver technical training to staff on HSE topics, such as safe equipment handling, emergency response, and environmental protection.
- Ensure that all employees, including contractors, follow the safety procedures specific to aerospace MRO operations, particularly in high-risk environments.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend engineering solutions and process changes to minimize safety risks and enhance environmental performance.
- Keep up to date with advancements in HSE technology and practices to introduce innovative safety solutions within the company.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA are preferred.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within the aerospace or MRO industry.
- Strong leadership experience with a proven track record in strategic HSE planning and implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE laws and regulations applicable to aerospace or MRO environments.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and root cause analyses.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, particularly around hazardous material handling and pollution control.
- Proficiency with HSE management systems and software tools.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for both team management and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
