Director of Special Education

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Inclusion to lead the school's inclusion provision and ensure that students with diverse learning needs receive high-quality, individualized support.

The successful candidate will work closely with school leaders, teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop an inclusive learning environment that promotes student wellbeing, achievement, and equal access to education.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Recognized SENCO, Inclusion, or Special Educational Needs qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' teaching experience.
• Minimum 2–3 years' leadership experience in an inclusion or SEND role.
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusion frameworks, and current best practices.
• Proven experience developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Experience leading and supporting teachers to deliver effective inclusive practices.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and inclusive education.
