Senior Physiotherapist - Pediatric

Purpose of the role

To provide a physiotherapy service to patients who may have physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury, disability or ageing to improve their physical function and to provide them with treatment programmes using manual therapy (such as massage), therapeutic exercise and electrotherapy.

To ensure the delivery of International standards of care in accordance with established national and international practices, policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy.
• Master's Degree in Pediatric Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Neuroscience, or a related field is preferred.
• Current SCFHS registration and professional classification.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in pediatric physiotherapy.
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric rehabilitation is preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in the assessment and management of:
• Developmental delay
• Cerebral palsy (CP)
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Genetic and developmental disorders
• Prematurity and early intervention
• Torticollis and plagiocephaly
• Pediatric musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions
• Postural and gait disorders
• Strong knowledge of developmental milestones, motor development, and standardized pediatric outcome measures.
• Experience in prescribing and training the use of pediatric assistive devices, orthoses, standing frames, gait trainers, and adaptive equipment is preferred.
• Experience in post-Botox rehabilitation, serial casting, and intensive rehabilitation programs is preferred.
• Ability to develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans using evidence-based, family-centered, and play-based approaches.
• Competency in caregiver education, home exercise programs, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
• Experience mentoring junior physiotherapists, students, or rehabilitation assistants is preferred.
• Participation in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation activities (CBAHI/JCI), audits, clinical education, or service development is preferred.
• Pediatric certifications such as Bobath (Pediatrics), General Movements Assessment (GMA), Early Intervention, Sensory Integration, Pediatric Aquatic Therapy, NDT, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Research, publications, presentations, or teaching experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning, professional accountability, and collaborative practice.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
