STRUCTURAL has been established in the UAE since 2008 and maintains offices and operations across both the UAE and KSA. Our integrated engineering company, STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, is seeking an experienced Cathodic Protection Superintendent to join our Saudi Arabia office.

The Role

As a Cathodic Protection Superintendent for STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, you'll be responsible for designing solutions that make the structures of the UAE and KSA stronger and last longer. This position will be project-based with the possibility of continued employment thereafter. The project is expected to last 3 years, with the expectation that you'll then transition to a company role within our Saudi Arabia office.

You'll spend your time working with our fully integrated repair companies to perform field investigations and develop repair solutions for existing structures and buildings. This role requires broad knowledge of how structures are designed and behave, including construction and deterioration mechanisms for concrete structures. Experience with cooling towers is a preference.

Key Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for ensuring that reinforcements in concrete structures are protected from corrosion through the design, installation, and maintenance of cathodic protection (CP) systems. As a Senior Specialist, you'll oversee all technical aspects of the CP system.

Your day-to-day work includes

• Designing and specifying CP systems with focus on planning and layout, working closely with engineers to ensure designs meet technical requirements and project objectives
• Managing technical drawings and specification aspects of CP systems
• Specifying materials, equipment, and techniques to be used in CP systems
• Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed CP systems
• Overseeing the installation of CP systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations
• Providing technical guidance to installation teams and contractors
• Implementing monitoring programs to assess CP system performance
• Analyzing data from CP monitoring systems and adjusting as necessary to ensure optimal performance
• Conducting routine inspections and maintenance activities to prolong CP system life
• Diagnosing issues with existing CP systems and developing corrective action plans
• Addressing complex corrosion problems through innovative engineering solutions
• Ensuring all CP activities comply with relevant standards and regulations (NACE, ISO)
• Preparing detailed technical reports, design documents, and maintenance records
• Documenting all phases of CP projects, from design through to maintenance and monitoring
• Providing training and technical support to junior engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders
• Conducting workshops and seminars on CP principles and best practices
• Developing long and short form proposals and supporting the development of complex proposals

What We're Looking For

You must hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering with a specialization in Cathodic Protection (CP) Engineering and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in cathodic protection design, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

You must be a NACE certified Cathodic Protection Specialist or level 4 certified to BS EN 15257, with at least 3 years of direct and continuous experience with the application of concrete cathodic protection systems within the Middle East region.

• Willingness to travel to various project sites as required
• Proficiency at preparing and presenting professional presentations based on acceptable industry standards and the ability to field questions
• Understanding of basic contract and subcontract terms and conditions
• Strong computer proficiency (MS Office programs)
• Strong math skills
• Ability to read drawings
• Spreadsheet knowledge and advance scheduling skills
• Skills and experience that demonstrate leadership potential
• Adherence to company operating principles
• Understanding of design-build solutions
• Ability to plan for safety within estimate buildup, addressing access and fall protection
• Ability to evaluate risk exposure on projects managed
