Lead / Staff Backend Engineer

We are looking for a seasoned, high-performing hands-on Staff Engineer to drive the technical execution and architecture of our backend services. You will be responsible for solving complex technical challenges, ensuring system reliability, and contributing to a high-standard codebase.

You will play a key part in guiding technical decisions and supporting the growth of junior engineers through peer code reviews and knowledge sharing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, high quality, production-ready backend code. Lead by example in establishing coding standards, testing practices, and robust documentation.
• Design and implement scalable, cloud-native backend services for mission-critical transaction systems ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
• Optimize system performance and database queries to handle high-concurrency traffic.
• Partner with the architecture and product team to refine technical specifications and project scope such as estimating timelines, break down large features into manageable sprint tasks, and clear technical blockers for the team.
• Perform thorough code reviews and advocate for engineering best practices and technical standards.
• Participate in debugging complex production issues, optimizing database queries, and contribute to the automation of CI/CD deployments and monitoring.
• Support junior team members through technical guidance and sharing domain expertise.

Requirements

• 6 years+ of backend development experience in high-concurrency engineering environment such as e-commerce, gaming and social platforms.
• Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Expert proficiency in C# and the .NET 6 / Core framework.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one other backend language such as Golang, Java, or Python.
• Deep understanding of multi-threading, asynchronous programming, and distributed system fundamentals.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL) and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience designing microservices or event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and scaling backend applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Alibaba, Azure etc).
• Good awareness of modern DevOps principles such as CI/CD pipeline automation.
