Role Overview

As a Senior Business Data Analyst within our newly formed Strategic Data Analytics & Insights department, you will play a pivotal role in driving data strategy, process automation, and commercial intelligence across our core business lines.

Your primary focus will be owning the data ecosystem and strategic analysis for our Prime Brokerage business. However, as a senior member of this lean team, you will take a holistic approach—collaborating closely with our Retail business analysts, providing cross-coverage for the Retail portfolio, and mentoring a junior analyst to elevate the team’s overall technical and analytical capabilities.

Job Description

1. Prime Brokerage Domain Ownership (Primary Focus)

• Revenue & Exposure Monitoring: Track and analyze daily revenue, margins, and exposure across all Prime products (CFD, Equity Swap, SBL, Margin Financing, Cash Equities, Custody).
• Investigative Analytics: Audit client activities, leverage changes, and funding/borrow movements to proactively identify, investigate, and escalate abnormal trading behaviors or financial risks.
• Commercial Insights: Provide deep-dive analysis on client profitability, concentration risks, and capital utilization to help the Product and Finance teams optimize borrow spreads, financing costs, and yield.

2. Cross-Pillar Support & Team Mentorship (Holistic Focus)

• Retail Business Cross-Coverage: Actively build cross-functional knowledge to support and step in on Retail trading performance, behavioral trends, and campaign analysis when required.
• Strategic Alignment: Partner with the Head of Department to align data insights with broader business strategy, helping to challenge financial figures and drive strategic growth across both Prime and Retail pillars.

3. Data Engineering, Dashboarding & Automation

• Reporting & Dashboards: Design, build, and maintain interactive, high-impact dashboards tracking KPIs, margin/exposure analytics, and product-level performance.
• Process Automation: Spearhead initiatives to automate manual reporting processes, streamline backend data pipelines, and improve data visibility for key business stakeholders.
• Data Governance & Product Support: Ensure data handling aligns with security, compliance, and regulatory standards. Participate in UAT testing for new product launches and system migrations.

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, or a related field.
• Min 3 to 5 years of analytical experience, preferably within Prime Brokerage, Equity Finance, Delta-One, or Securities Lending.
• Strong understanding of Prime Brokerage products (CFDs, Swaps, SBL, Margin Financing), financing economics, margining rules, and P&L drivers. Familiarity with Retail brokerage operations is a strong plus.
• Ability to manipulate and handle structured and unstructured large datasets independently
• Good understanding of data architecture, database schemas, and hands-on experience with backend ETL processes.

Technical Skillset

• Expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Advanced SQL proficiency (will be tested during interviews)
• Proficient in using dashboarding tool
• Python is highly preferred (will be tested during interviews)
