Our client is supporting a large-scale regulated technology transformation programme in Hong Kong and is looking for a Data Pipeline & Analytics Engineer to join its Data Warehouse team. This role will focus on data pipeline design, BI / data warehouse troubleshooting, data modelling, Power BI / SSAS reporting architecture, and stakeholder coordination across business, technology, and external delivery teams.
The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business users, data consumers, application teams, data providers, and architecture teams to ensure data pipelines, analytics models, and reporting solutions are accurate, scalable, traceable, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline & Analytics Solution Design
- Translate data pipeline and analytics requirements into practical analytics models, data pipeline designs, and reporting structures.
- Work closely with architecture teams, external developers, data consumers, data providers, and business users to guide and validate solution design.
- Ensure data pipeline solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with functional and non-functional requirements.
Business Requirement Gathering & Stakeholder Coordination
- Conduct workshops and discussions to gather, clarify, and validate business requirements.
- Align expectations across multiple stakeholders and help resolve queries, complaints, or conflicting requirements in a structured manner.
- Bridge the gap between business requirements and ETL / BI logic by analysing issues and proposing scalable solutions.
ETL Pipeline, Data Modelling & Data Quality
- Model and design ETL pipeline data structures, storage logic, integration flow, data integrity checks, and reconciliation processes.
- Standardise exception handling and control mechanisms to ensure strong traceability during troubleshooting.
- Analyse new data sources using structured data quality evaluation approaches and assess the impact of integrating new data into existing models and pipelines.
Data Warehouse Architecture & Technical Documentation
- Support the design of data models and data platforms to enable controlled growth of a large-scale data warehouse environment.
- Prepare technical specifications covering functional requirements, non-functional requirements, data flows, data logic, and reporting requirements.
- Document data model changes, pipeline logic, and operational controls to support long-term maintainability.
Power BI / SSAS Reporting & Analytics Support
- Support Power BI reporting solutions using data objects, report objects, and service objects across different business scenarios.
- Work with Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, dimensional modelling, and SSAS multi-dimensional models as reporting data sources.
- Support Power BI / SSAS row-level security, Power Query M scripts, and JSON API data services for Power BI report rendering.
- Assist in performance monitoring and management for Power BI servers and SSAS servers.
Deployment, Version Control & Continuous Improvement
- Support migration of Power BI data models into SSAS data models using appropriate best practices.
- Manage SSAS model change version control and deployment across testing and production environments.
- Work with data engineers and technical teams to improve pipeline performance, data quality, and reporting stability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Project Management, Business Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ IT experience, including at least 2 years in data migration, business intelligence, data warehouse, or data pipeline projects.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Oracle or SQL Server SQL development.
- Strong technical understanding of data quality metrics, data modelling, data design, and data warehouse architecture principles across master data, transaction data, and reporting data.
- Hands-on experience with Stored Procedures such as Oracle PL/SQL and SQL DDL / DML.
- Experience with Power BI, including report development, data objects, service objects, row-level security, and enterprise reporting scenarios.
- Strong understanding of Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, dimensional modelling, and SSAS multi-dimensional models.
- Experience with SSAS model version control, deployment across environments, and performance management is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Power Query M script and JSON API data services for Power BI reporting is an advantage.
- Exposure to Hadoop, Python, Java Spring Boot, Docker, or OpenShift / OCP is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, multitasking, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Mandarin.
