Product Mechanical Engineer

To support our continued growth and strengthen our development capabilities, we are looking for a talented Product Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team.

About the role

The Product Mechanical Engineer will be a member of the Engineering team of ARCTIC, located in the Hong Kong R&D office. Reporting to the functional Team Lead, the mission of the Product Mechanical Engineer is to create, develop and sustain quality computer products that impress ARCTIC’s end customers.

Job Duties

Handle new product development and sustaining engineering activities for existing products. Major duties include:

• Develop cost-effective mechanical structures for PC hardware products such as case fans, CPU coolers, PC cases and monitor mounts through design iteration using CAD modelling, simulation, 3D printing, product testing, and other engineering methods.
• Conduct testing and benchmarking activities to ensure designed products achieve competitive performance.
• Research and propose solutions for product enhancement.
• Prepare engineering documentation, including technical drawings, product specifications, inspection reports, and other related documents.
• Create and maintain product BOMs in accordance with ARCTIC Engineering SOPs.
• Work closely with the Industrial Design team to ensure products fulfil ARCTIC’s aesthetic requirements.
• Collaborate with the Graphic Design team on packaging design.
• Collaborate with Purchasing team throughout the RFQ process.
• Collaborate with suppliers in Mainland China on various activities throughout the product development process, including sample preparation, product testing, production trials, and project support, with factory visits required from time to time.

Basic requirements

• Holder of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development.
• Experience in designing consumer electronics or home appliances is an advantage.
• Experience in developing cooling solutions (air or liquid) is highly preferred.
• Candidate with less experience will be considered for the Junior Mechanical Engineer position.

Skills & Knowledge

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling and technical drawing creation.
• Intermediate level of SolidWorks Simulation
• Fundamental knowledge in GD&T.
• Fundamental knowledge in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing process including plastic injection, metal presswork, die-casting, machining, and related technologies.
• Sound knowledge of fluid dynamics is an advantage.

Capabilities

• Able to design products from component to complete assembly level, with consideration of different manufacturing processes.
• Able to create testing plans and conduct validation activities appropriately based on product requirements.
• Willing to brainstorm and contribute ideas for product improvement.
• Able to identify root causes of issues through product observation, testing, and analytical methods.
• Able to prioritize various tasks and work effectively under tight project schedules.
• Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.

Language requirements

• Written and spoken English is mandatory.
• Spoken Cantonese and/or Mandarin is preferred.
• Written Chinese is an advantage.
