Role Mission
- To drive the mechanical design, verification, and validation of new wireless and handheld devices while providing technical expertise for existing products and emerging sales opportunities.
- You will ensure product quality, design integrity, and successful production release, contributing directly to the company's innovation pipeline and market competitiveness.
Role Summary
- Report to the Engineering Manager and plan and carry out mechanical design work based on Industrial Design (ID) concepts for wireless and handheld devices, lead verification and validation activities during new product development, support the engineering department with technical questions on existing products.
- Work as a project manager in development teams when appointed for specific projects, mentor junior staff in technology and tools usage, work in a collaborative engineering team of 10 members where innovation and teamwork are highly valued, with minimal travel to China (approximately 4-5 trips per year).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for Industrial Design (ID) and mechanical design concepts for wireless and handheld devices
- Carry out mechanical design independently or coordinate with suppliers for device design execution
- Generate and maintain comprehensive 3D and 2D design files using Pro-E and Auto-CAD
- Plan and execute mechanical verification and validation testing for new products
- Create and maintain design documentation including Mechanical BOM, drawings, assembly instructions, and technical specifications
- Release design materials for production and ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing
- Support production teams on product-technical matters and troubleshooting
- Act as project manager in development teams when appointed for specific projects, ensuring timely delivery
- Provide technical input and conduct feasibility studies for PRS (Product Request Specification) and new project opportunities alongside senior staff
- Support and train junior staff on device technology, design tools, and engineering best practices
- Report directly to the Engineering Manager and provide regular updates on project status
- Assist with additional R&D tasks as assigned to support team objectives
Ideal Candidate
- Degree holder in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of solid experience in mechanical design of handheld/wireless devices (telecommunications, healthcare, enterprise, or consumer markets)
- Proficient in Pro-E (Pro/Engineering) and Auto-CAD for 3D and 2D device design
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in mechanical design preferably Bluetooth speakers, wireless headsets, wireless healthcare devices, or enterprise telephony systems
- Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to drive projects to completion on time
- Enjoy taking ownership of projects and guiding them from concept to production
- Good communication skills with fluent spoken English and Putonghua
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
