Junior Mechanical Engineer

Junior Mechanical Engineer – CCS International, Inc. CCS is a leading and innovative cost management and project management firm providing services at all project phases from initial conception through design, construction, and occupancy. Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mechanical Cost Managers in the preparation of comprehensive mechanical cost estimates.
• Accurately compile and prepare cost estimating information.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret building and site utility drawings and specifications.
• Download mechanical drawings into an On-Screen Take-Off program and enter takeoff items into Sage Timberline or other Excel estimate formats.
• Perform quantity take-offs, market price research, and data analysis to support estimating activities.
• Occasionally download Revit drawings prepared by the design team and extrapolate quantities to Excel workbooks.
• Manipulate data and arrange quantities by division for use by mid and senior-level Mechanical Cost Managers.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure estimates reflect project scope and design intent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, business, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to follow comprehensive directions and self-teach software as needed.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on clarity and responsiveness.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and develop statistical reports and calculations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and components for fire protection, plumbing, and HVAC building systems.
• Knowledge of project design and interpretation criteria.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe; comprehensive working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Knowledge of database management/maintenance is a plus.
• Knowledge of Sage Timberline and/or MCACES is a plus.
