Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter on our Middle Market team.

Our Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. What you’ll be doing

• Evaluate Underwriting Risks: Drive submission activity and determine risk acceptability using company guidelines.
• Demonstrate Technical Expertise: Apply deep product knowledge across multiple Middle Market P&C insurance lines.
• Execute Strategic Pricing: Price risks accurately using sophisticated financial models and diverse structures.
• Maintain Underwriting Discipline: Use specialized tools to ensure thorough account reviews and complete documentation.
• Analyze Market Trends: Monitor state regulations, territory issues, and underwriting data to drive results.
• Cultivate Broker Relationships: Build strong connections through active marketing, client meetings, and regional travel.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 1-2 years of underwriting experience.
• Experience producing and underwriting accounts of all sizes with major brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers.
• Team player with grit, and collaborative by nature
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Salary Range

$65,000 - $125,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.

Our compensation program is built on a foundation that promotes a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards, on average, when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms.

The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance.
