Insurance Underwriter

Company Description The Parks Group, Inc. is a an independent Managing General Agency that has been in operation for 31 years. We focus on Texas commercial lines business. We provide personalized and dedicated service to retail agents in the state.

Role Description The Insurance Underwriter at The Parks Group, Inc. is a full-time, remote position. This person will be responsible for maintaining relationships with existing retail agents and creating new ones to facilitate new agency business. This will include agency visits, networking and cross-selling discussions.

In addition, the development of strong working relationships with insurance carriers including learning specific underwriting guidelines is required. This person will underwrite commercial accounts for general liability, property, garage, excess/umbrella and professional.

Responsibilities

• Acquire new business through sales and marketing that establishes relationships with retail agents
• Quote existing renewal accounts
• Underwrite commercial accounts including general liability, property, garage, excess/umbrella and professional with binding markets
• Process brokerage submissions
• Conduct agency visits with retail agents
• Solicit new retail agents in order to develop a profitable portfolio
• Develop strong relationships with insurance carriers
• Learn the underwriting guides and proprietary rating programs for binding contracts
• Assess new business submissions and negotiate terms by selecting the markets that provide the broadest coverage at the proper premium
• Respond to inquiries from the retail agents regarding coverages and endorsements

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, assess risk, and make sound underwriting decisions
• Self motivated and responsible since this is a remote position
• Minimum of three years commercial lines underwriting experience at an MGA
• Currently working with Texas retail agents (or have recently)
• Detailed oriented including strong grammar and spelling
• Knowledge of general liability, property, garage, excess/umbrella and professional products
• Proven history of business development and submissions from direct production responsibilities
• An outgoing person who likes to establish new relationships
• Experience with AIM/Vertafore and ImageRight
• Experience with Microsoft Windows products
• An energetic, self motivated individual who is team oriented
• Desire and willingness to learn and continue professional development through insurance education
• Willingness and ability to participate in industry functions including travel on a limited basis
• General lines and surplus lines licenses preferred and will be required 90 days after hiring
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a remote environment
