Civil Engineer in Training

A locally owned civil engineering consulting firm is seeking an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to support a growing portfolio of public infrastructure projects across the Austin area, with a focus on transportation, drainage and stormwater systems, flood control, and water quality engineering.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, highly collaborative team supporting major municipal and transportation-related infrastructure projects, including transit and light rail initiatives.

The firm offers strong technical exposure combined with a mentorship-driven environment, giving early-career engineers meaningful hands-on responsibility and the ability to grow quickly within a smaller, high-impact setting.

Responsibilities

• Support transportation and municipal infrastructure projects, including drainage, stormwater, and water quality components
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and engineering analysis as part of project delivery
• Assist with plan production and Civil 3D design work for public infrastructure projects
• Contribute to schematic and construction plan development, including PS&E deliverables
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and supporting documentation
• Assist with coordination across internal teams and project stakeholders
• Support design and documentation efforts for transit, roadway, and municipal infrastructure projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
• 1–4+ years of experience in civil engineering (internship experience applicable)
• Experience with Civil 3D and/or plan production preferred
• Exposure to H&H modeling and/or drainage and stormwater design is a plus
• Land development experience is beneficial but not required
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented consulting environment
• Interest in public infrastructure and long-term growth in transportation or water resources engineering
