Senior Legal Counsel - Fixed Income

The Role

The FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking to hire a Prime Brokerage and Securities attorney to join the Fidelity Capital Markets Legal team. The Team advises on federal, self-regulatory organization, and other applicable rules and regulations impacting institutional trading.

This role will provide legal advice and support to the prime brokerage business as well as the fixed income trading desks relating to regulations, agreements, and market developments. The Legal Team supporting Fidelity Capital Markets collaborates across Fidelity to facilitate the offering of products and services (including Fidelity Trader+) to retail and institutional brokerage customers.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with 4-8 years’ experience with a law firm, financial services firm, or state or federal agency in prime brokerage, securities law, or financial services legal practice.
• Solid understanding of U.S. securities regulations including the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Securities Act of 1933, and related SEC, FINRA and self-regulatory organization rules and regulations.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating prime brokerage and fixed income trading agreements.
• Experience handling regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and operational issues for clients in financial services and capital markets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner across legal, compliance, operations, and business teams.
• A positive, practical, and creative approach to problem solving.
• Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize effectively, work independently and under pressure on sophisticated legal matters, as part of a dynamic and creative team of lawyers in a fast-paced environment.

The Team

You will support Fidelity’s Capital Markets business by supporting business development efforts, including contracting, and managing the ongoing review of regulatory changes affecting broker-dealers and advising on new products and services.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
