What You Bring To The Role
- 3 years of Professional Experience in (software development or systems administration) Not School related IT Experience or 3 years of professional experience working in the areas of software/ Systems development and Engineering.
- Understanding of basic programming concepts and logic. Familiarity with any programming language, such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or JavaScript, is advantageous. Must have skillset in 1 programming language.
- Proficiency in using (CLI) in a Unix/Linux environment. Basic command line navigation, file manipulation, and scripting skills are beneficial. Basic knowledge of operating system fundamentals, including processes, file systems, and user permissions.
- Understanding of version control systems, especially Git. Knowledge of basic version control operations (commit, push, pull, merge) and understanding of branching concepts.
- Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnets, and basic understanding of protocols like TCP/IP. Basic understanding of web technologies, including protocols, DNS, and web servers.
- Awareness of basic virtualization concepts and technologies, such as virtual machines (VMs) and containers. familiarity with basic cloud computing concepts, although not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues systematically. Effective communication and collaboration skills are critical. A candidate with a growth mindset and a strong interest in continuous learning is likely to thrive in a fast-paced DevOps and SRE environment. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and an understanding of iterative development processes.
- Foundational experience of basic principles of algorithms, data types & variables, control structures (conditionals/loops), functions & methods, data structures, OOP principles (encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism. Must Know how to create and use classes and objects. Implement error handling mechanisms, (try-catch blocks, to manage exceptions), debugging skills and testing principles.
- Great interview skills as you will be interviewing with many companies and leads in the tech industry.
- Cloud Developer, Cloud Infrastructure, or DevOps Engineer who is comfortable developing on AWS cloud, building highly scalable and fault tolerant cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipeline + building them from the ground up
- Ability to deliver software development and software builds and releases (which includes the design, development, support of builds, scripts, and installation procedure)
- Excited by the prospect of optimizing, or even re-designing, a company’s Cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipeline leveraging tools of core AWS services (such as, GIT, Jenkins/CircleCI/Travis, Jira, and coding with Python or Java or C++)
- Self-directed and comfortable supporting the automation needs of multiple teams, systems and products.
- MUST have a bachelor's or master’s degree in either (computer science, software engineering, Mathematics, Statistical Computing, Mathematical Statistics, Information Systems: Software Development, Information Technology: Programming and Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering.)
- Working SQL knowledge with relational databases, query authoring, as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to travel (80% after Training portion) and live in the U.S.
- Ability to communicate the logic behind technical decisions to non-tech stakeholders.
