Job Summary
TThe National Junior Network Engineer's role is to design and support the national operation of the production (Customer facing) and corporate network infrastructure for all the H5 facilities. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software (IOS), and communication links while assuring maximum network availability.
Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and improve reliability.
The successful candidate will also provide second-level support and diagnose and resolve complex network problems. This position also entails consulting with customers on projects, translating requirements into a project plan, and managing the project through completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements and create Technical Approach documents detailing hardware requirements and configurations with various solutions.
- The candidate will serve as second-level support escalation and escalate to the Senior team; to assist in the diagnosis and resolution of customer outages and chronic customer problems.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
- Comprehensive understanding of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, RIP)
- Proven implementation and understanding of current WAN topologies (Point to Point, full mesh, dual home, etc.)
- Proficient with Telecom and Technologic solutions (data and voice, Virtualization, Edge computing, Optical Transport)
- Liaise with vendors (Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner, Cisco, etc.) on new technologies, recommending new, cost-effective solutions and technologies to improve reliability and service.
- Develops documentation for new installations that will be used to support the colocation environment and network.
- Develops, enhances, and maintains network design layouts that are reviewed for problem analysis and resolution.
- Knowledge of Network security technologies and solutions, ensuring network security and integrity.

- Responsible for developing daily/monthly/quarterly reports for senior management and customer review on the performance of network services.
- Responsible for the support of all corporate LAN technologies, VoIP, wireless,

- Customer Support:
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex network problems as part of third-level support.
- Documents the findings.

- Consults with Colocation customers regularly, gathering project requirements and developing cost-effective solutions.
- Create Root Cause analysis reports on major incidents affecting customer service.
- Support internal corporate user community with voice and LAN technologies.
Education and Experience
- College educated (4+ years) in computer/network-related field.· Possesses and maintains current knowledge and understanding of Network Protocols, technologies, and applications. (TCP/IP, VPN, SSL BGP, EIGRP, ISIS, OSPF, etc.)· Excellent knowledge of logical data flows for physical Networks and Logical hosts. This will assist in designing, diagnosing issues, and problem-solving.· Experience in deploying and supporting wireless technologies.· Strong understanding of Telco transport terminology and concepts required (MPLS, Frame, OC-x, DWDM, etc.)· Working knowledge of security products. (Firewalls, IPS, Virus software)· Organizational and time management skills.· Experience in deploying and supporting wireless technologies.· Fundamental understanding of Telco transport terminology and concepts required (MPLS, Frame, OC-x, DWDM, SONET, etc.)· Working knowledge of security products.
