Position Summary
Our Client is seeking a motivated Junior OEM Engineering Sales Account Manager to support the growth of its OEM business by identifying new sales opportunities, developing customer relationships, and providing technical product solutions.
This role works closely with Sales Management, Application Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, and Purchasing to deliver engineered solutions that meet customer requirements while driving profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will have a technical sales background, strong mechanical aptitude, experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, and an understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly injection and compression molding. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth while working directly with OEM customers and industry-leading suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new OEM sales opportunities through customer facility visits and production line walks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Create and execute sales action plans to successfully convert opportunities into revenue.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the sales process.
- Qualify and follow up on marketing-generated leads.
- Analyze customer purchasing trends and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Travel to customer sites (up to 50%) to understand applications and recommend appropriate solutions.
Technical Sales Support
- Gather customer technical requirements and collaborate with Application Engineering to develop product solutions.
- Prepare accurate quotations and proposals.
- Recommend engineered component solutions based on customer applications.
- Assist customers with product selection and technical inquiries.
- Work with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and required order quantities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, Marketing, and Product Management to improve customer experience.
- Provide customer feedback regarding market trends, product gaps, and new product opportunities.
- Support forecasting activities and sales strategy development.
- Maintain accurate customer records, opportunity tracking, and reporting within the company's CRM system.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the sales cycle.
- Ensure timely follow-up and effective communication with customers and internal teams.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment focused on continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of technical sales, application engineering, or engineering experience.
- Minimum 2 years of sales experience.
- At least 1 year of CRM system experience.
- At least 1 year of SolidWorks experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and tolerances, with emphasis on injection and compression molding.
- Ability to interpret customer technical requirements and recommend engineered solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling engineered components to Industrial OEM customers.
- Knowledge of miniature fittings, plastic and metal fittings, check valves, filters, barbed fittings, and push-in fittings.
- Experience within the Industrial OEM, Plumbing/PVF, Waterworks, or Irrigation industries.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and sourcing product components.
- Familiarity with technical quoting and solution-based selling.
