Type: Contractor

Location: 4300 Tacony St, Philadelphia, PA 19124

Time:-8am-4pm, Monday-Friday

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and the school's curriculum.
• Teach core science concepts including Life Science, Physical Science, Earth & Space Science, and Environmental Science.
• Create inquiry-based and hands-on learning experiences through laboratory investigations, demonstrations, projects, and collaborative activities.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, behavioral, and learning needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and 504 Plans.
• Utilize instructional technology and digital learning tools to enhance classroom engagement.
• Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment that promotes student success.
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, administrators, and support staff regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, instructional coaches, and school leadership to support student achievement.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school activities as assigned.
• Follow all school policies, district procedures, and CarePhilly Created expectations regarding professionalism, confidentiality (FERPA), and student safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Science, or a related field required.
• Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification preferred (Emergency Certification candidates may be considered depending on school requirements).
• Previous experience teaching middle school science is preferred.
• Strong understanding of middle school science curriculum and instructional best practices.
• Experience creating engaging, standards-based lesson plans.
• Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
• Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusive educational practices.
• Ability to adapt instruction to support varying student learning styles and academic needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in urban, charter, or public school settings.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs or collaborating with special education teams.
• Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, and data-driven instruction.
• Experience using Google Classroom, Microsoft Office, and other educational technology platforms.

Pay: From $27.00 per hour
