About the Role

Following major AMP8 framework wins,

Binnies (part of the RSK Group)

is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a

Chartered Civil Engineer

who is passionate about

technical excellence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing .

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys managing engineering teams and being the

go-to technical authority , acting as a

subject matter expert (SME)

across civil engineering disciplines while supporting and developing our in‑house talent within a collaborative design environment.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping high‑quality, sustainable water and wastewater solutions while strengthening technical capability across our business.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a

Senior Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager , you will:

act as the

civil engineering subject matter expert

across multiple,

lead and review

complex civil engineering designs, calculations, reports, and specifications,

provide

technical assurance, guidance, and problem‑solving support

to project teams,

be the

first point of contact

for civil engineering technical queries,

support the development and application of

standards, tools, and best practice,

mentor, coach, and train

graduate and junior engineers , fostering technical confidence and capability,

contribute to

design reviews, risk management, and value engineering,

collaborate

with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients,

support cost, programme, and quality objectives through

sound technical decision‑making.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically strong, people‑focused engineer who enjoys sharing knowledge and raising standards.

Essential

Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) status.

Proven experience delivering

detailed design

within the

water or wastewater sector.

Strong technical judgement and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance.

Passion for

mentoring, training, and developing our in‑house talent.

Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience in undertaking engineering manager role on multi‑disciplinary engineering projects

Experience with UK water industry clients.

Familiarity with industry design standards and assurance processes.

Coordination of overseas resources.

Experience contributing to technical communities, guidance, or innovation initiatives.
