London Borough of Lambeth
Assistant Director of Finance x 3
Employer London Borough of Lambeth
Location London (Hybrid)
Salary £85,175 - £101,934 per annum
Closing date Sunday 6 September 2026, 23:59
The London Borough of Lambeth is seeking three outstanding finance leaders to join us as Assistant Directors of Finance, at a pivotal moment in the organisation's journey.
This is a rare opportunity to build your reputation in a high-profile London Borough, using your experience and expertise to shape financial strategy and drive service transformation across some of the Council's most significant areas of spend and public impact.
With an established Corporate Director of Resources (Section 151 Officer) in post, a Director of Finance soon to be appointed, and an ambitious Transformation Programme at the heart of our Medium-Term Financial Strategy, these roles present a rare opportunity to shape how finance operates at the heart of one of London's most ambitious boroughs.
We are recruiting into three posts, each leading financial business partnering for a key area of the Council:
Assistant Director of Finance – Integrated Health and Care. Leading financial strategy and business partnering across adult social care, public health and health integration, including oversight of complex, high-value, demand-led budgets shared with NHS and other partners.
Assistant Director of Finance – Housing. Leading financial strategy and business partnering across the Housing Revenue Account and General Fund housing services, including housing capital investment, temporary accommodation and homelessness prevention.
Assistant Director of Finance – Growth and Environment. Leading financial strategy and business partnering across regeneration, planning, highways and environmental services, supporting the Council's growth, capital investment and commercial agenda.
About Lambeth
Lambeth is a borough with social and climate justice at its heart.
Working alongside our residents, businesses and voluntary sector partners, we are committed to tackling inequality so that every child gets the best start in life and every resident can feel safe, thrive and belong. Delivering against this ambition requires a modern, forward-thinking finance function capable of supporting transformation at pace - and these roles will be central to achieving that.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and responsible for a team of up to 20 staff, each Assistant Director of Finance will lead and deliver a value-adding, customer-focused finance function for their directorate, working with service colleagues and other professional functions to meet the needs of the Council while delivering on corporate objectives and statutory responsibilities.
We are seeking CCAB-qualified finance professionals with a strong track record of strategic financial leadership within a complex public sector environment.
Why Join Lambeth?
This is a unique opportunity to join an established senior finance leadership team with a clear mandate to strengthen financial resilience and support the Council through a period of significant financial challenge and transformation - while leading on a service area that directly shapes outcomes for residents.
When applying, please indicate which of the three posts (Integrated Health and Care, Housing, or Growth and Environment) you wish to be considered for. You may wish to apply for more than one role.
