Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a senior care organization in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. In this role, you will oversee a large volume of invoices with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and strong vendor service.

This position is well suited to someone who can stay organized in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively across teams, and help strengthen day-to-day accounts payable operations.

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of utility and supplier invoices while ensuring prompt and accurate entry.
• Examine invoices carefully, identify inconsistencies, and follow up on missing information or approvals to keep payments on track.
• Build and maintain tracking methods that provide visibility into invoice progress and utility-related spending.
• Apply correct general ledger coding and expense allocation within the organization’s financial systems.
• Contribute to clearing aged items and recommend practical improvements to invoice handling procedures.
• Work closely with internal departments and external vendors to resolve questions, obtain approvals, and address payment concerns.
• Support vendor account reconciliations, payment runs, cheque processing, and month-end accounts payable tasks.
• Manage competing deadlines effectively while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
